Water Seal Fermentation

Ferment food the traditional way with our water channel crock jar, lid and weights. With this crock, you can make numerous probiotic-rich recipes like kimchi, pickled vegetables, sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha, yogurt, sourdough, condiments, and more! Fermentation gives fermented foods their zing; it also delivers probiotics, B vitamins, omega-3s and digestive enzymes that strengthen our digestive and immune health. There is no limit to the types of fermented foods and beverages you can concoct.

  • Make german-style sauekraut for layering on a bratwurst or eating on its own--best served warm!
  • Or try your hand at an easy napa cabbage kimchi recipe, rich in umami flavor and healthy probiotics!
  • You can truly ferment any vegetable, especially cucumbers, to get the crisp tart flavor of pickles!
  • It's even easy to brew kombucha or grow a sourdough starter by swapping out the lid for a clean cloth!

Place prepared cabbage, cucumbers, and vegetables into the crock, using the included crescent weights to submerge the contents, fill the gutter rim, and add the lid. The ingenious design of this crock allows carbon dioxide to escape while keeping air and unwanted microbes and contaminants, such as dust and insects, out.

    2 gallon water seal crock

Posted by JB on 28th Apr 2024

Ordered and received the 2 gallon crock. Looks great. While washing it before the first ferment I noticed a small crack in the glaze inside. I took pictures and sent them to Ohio stoneware. They replaced the crock base with no questions. Great customer service. First round of pickles are now fermenting.

Nice looking haven’t used it yet but purchased using positive reviews. The only thing that’s off is the shape of the lid isn’t exactly round. Assuming hand spun so it’s a little wonky

    Best Water Seal Fermentation Crock

Posted by David Goodwin on 29th Sep 2023

Really like this 2 gallon crock! It’s large enough to hold 5 heads of cabbage and the top is large enough to get my hand in to press down the cabbage. The water seal is deep enough to make a great airtight seal and only needs water added to it about every three days. I highly recommend this 2 gal crock and it’s made in Ohio!

excellent design details other similar products don't have. (I also have a German made one but the glaze crazed in a couple of years and salt blooms occur) excellent packaging
